Welcome to Wikipedia, a collaborative project to produce a complete encyclopedia from scratch. We started in January 2001 and already have over 6,000 articles. We want to make over 100,000, so let's get to work--anyone can edit any page--copyedit, write a little, write a lot. See the Wikipedia FAQ for information on how to edit pages and other questions. If you're visiting Wikipedia for the first time, welcome! The content of Wikipedia is covered by the GNU Free Documentation License.

The unfinished puzzle in the Wikipedia logo reflects the fact that Wikipedia is unfinished - it's "a constant work in progress." https://archive.org/details/HowWikipediaWorks/ https://archive.org/stream/HowWikipediaWorks/HowWikipediaWorks_djvu.txt
In mid 2009, the Wikimedia Foundation performed a Licensing update on projects with GFDL to be dual licensed under both the GFDL and Creative Commons CC-BY-SA 3.0. As a result, this page may give inaccurate or outdated advice, and is in need of updating.
Note: The English Wikipedia Multi-licensing page contains more information on multiple licensing schemes. It is meant to replace this page, as this page already consists of lists of those who are in dual-licensing schemes other than the Creative Commons licenses (such as public domain). This is a short guide to contributions which are dual-licensed under the GFDL and the Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike license (henceforth CC).
Wikipedia is in the palm of your hand—all you need to do is edit an article.
